History

• In ancient Egypt aloe was considered to be a giver of beauty, health and immortality
• In ancient China aloe was regarded as a godly plant
• The native Americans counted aloe among 16 holy and revered plants

Properties attributed to the aloe vera plant

• Aloe vera belongs to the lily family although it looks more similar to a cactus. It stores water in its fleshy leaves, closes its leaf pores and avoids drying out.
